About
Lesley Johnson returned to painting in 2024, seeking a medium that offered physicality and direct expression. Influenced by her practice of yoga, she aims to infuse the energy of her surroundings into her art, creating works that resonate with viewers through familiar, natural, and cosmic patterns. Her paintings have been described as sublime, evocative, and alive, drawing inspiration from William Turner, Richard Hambleton's "Beautiful Paintings," and David Bierk.
Lesley's approach is contemplative, using each brushstroke to forge a connection between the viewer and the universe's limitlessness. Her art invites a thoughtful engagement, creating a space where each viewer's experience is uniquely intertwined with the painting.
Currently based in Brooklyn, NY, her paintings have found homes in dozens of private and public collections, including The Chelsea Hotel, and have been exhibited several times at Van de Plas Gallery on the Lower East Side of NYC.
