March 23 – April 24, 2016
Alpha realms, cognitive dissonance, free spirits, religious dissent, political discord, monkey brain, and more await you in State Of Mind.
The group show features the works of Konstantin Bokov, Kevin Wendall, Hy Eisman, Corlette Baylock, Johan Wahlstrom, and Monty Cantsin.
Savvy, colorful, and politically charged, State Of Mind is an energizing experience, from Baylock’s pistachio shell-covered stool (“We Are Nuts”, 29.5” x 12.75” x 12.75”) to the topical Wahlstrom painting “Stuck In A Truck” (acrylic, 74″ x 63″) depicting the plight of Syrian refugees. Also on view is Bokov’s mixed media “NYC WallStr” (18” x 7”) composed of recycled materials, a barbed commentary on American politics of money.
The opening reception featured “Free”, Mark Lechner, 2012 documentary exploring Konstantin Bokov’s creative process. “Free” was part of the official selection at various international film festivals and won 3rd place at Telc Arts & Film Int’l. Film Festival, Czech Republic.
