Van Der Plas Gallery is offering a one-week showing opportunity for artists who have not previously been represented by the gallery, to allow artists Manhattan gallery exposure and a chance to establish an ongoing relationship with the gallerist/owner.
An open call is being issued to artists wishing to show in the, Sunday 15 May through Saturday 23 May, exhibition. The opening reception is scheduled for Wednesday May 17, 6-8 p.m.
Because of extremely short notice, formal submission procedure is being bypassed in lieu of artists simply contacting the gallery owner directly with a proposal. The selection of art and artists will be determined by the gallery owner, Adriaan Van Der Plas.
There will be no fee for submission of work, but in order to cover a portion of expenses, artists selected are being asked to contribute an exhibiting fee determined by the number and size of works shown.
Examples of exhibiting fees for the one-week exhibit:
4 paintings/drawings/prints, each 16″ x 20” or less $140
2 paintings/drawings/prints, each up to 24” x 30” $140
1 painting/drawing/print, up to 36” x 48” $140
Larger works will be considered and will necessitate a higher fee.
Sales of work will be a standard split of half to the artist, half to the gallery. The exhibiting fee will serve as a credit in the event of sales. In the above example, with an exhibiting fee of $140, the artist would receive all proceeds from the first $280 of works sold.
